Music & Worship

Why we worship: We are the children of the living God, who loves us and has pursued us over all of history - and who came to us in the form of humanity - as Jesus the Christ, the Messiah.  We gather to worship and give praise to our God, not just because we will "get something out of it" or "it makes us feel good" but because God is God and is to be praised!

Our style of worship: Our worship service is perhaps best described as a "blended" style.

  • Our music blends many elements - our 8:30am service is mostly modern praise and worship music, the 11:00am service music is predominantly traditional hymns
  • Both services include elements of traditional liturgy that have been handed down over centuries with elements of modern relevance in a church that is always reforming.  We cherish elements that ground us solidly and that we share with the wider church and history, and things that express who we are, today, and how we understand God working in our lives, in this time and place.
  • We encourage involvement - worship is a ministry of the people, all the children of God, all ages. So our worship includes children, youth and adults, and all may be involved in our prayers, readings, music, communion celebration, etc.

5th Sundays - Joint Worship at 10am

  • On months with 5 Sundays the entire congregation gathers on that “5th Sunday” for a single worship service together at 10am.   Gathering together helps us build bonds of friendship and fellowship.   On those 5th Sundays we gather for Agape (fellowship and study) time together at 9am.  Discipleship/Sunday School is not held on our 5th Sundays.

Choir And Ensemble Rehearsal Times

  • Chancel Choir - Wednesdays at 7 PM in Choir Room
  • Handbell Choir - Wednesdays at 5:30 PM in Sanctuary
  • Contemporary/Praise Ensemble & Choir - Wednesday at 7:00 PM in Sanctuary
The Music & Worship Ministry is interested in providing new opportunities for people to get involved in the ministry of the church. We are considering starting three new groups, and if you are interested in one or more let us know.  These groups take less time commitments than our cornerstone groups, but as always, our established groups are always looking for new ministry members to help us sing, play and ring God's praises!
As a reminder, all are welcome (grades 6 and up) and all adults in our established groups:

Handbell Choir - Rehearses September-May at 5:30pm on Wednesday's

Chancel Choir - Rehearses year round (every other week during the summer) at 7:00 pm on Wednesday's in the choir room and sings everything from classical, traditional, gospel and contemporary.

Contemporary Ensemble - Rehearses year round (every other week during the summer) at 7:00 pm on Wednesday's in the sanctuary and sings/plays well known praise music to just released contemporary songs.
